Good ranger builds? (Your Opinion)
My ranger is now lvl 20 and i have spent most of my time getting to this lvl rather than concentrating on the builds...
Now all opinons wud be helpful:
1) Best overall PVE Build
2) Best UW Barrage build
3) Best PVP Build - I.E For a Warrior id say the shock axe is the most well known and perhaps even one of the best builds for PVP. (But what about for a ranger)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where would you spend your att points for each occasion.
Also what sort of Bow/Bow Upgrades would you suggest for each occasion.
Im Using a sundering stormbow of fortitude atm.
I currently only have Factions and Proph.
Thanks.

1. Depends on where in PvE. Standard BA or Barrager Splinter is usually best. BHA can go a loooong way though.
2. BP got screwed in UW. Good luck with this.
3. Standard BA. This would be:
14 Expertise
10 Marksmanship
10 Wilderness Survival
3 Protection Prayers
Natural Stride
Distracting Shot
Savage Shot
Burning Arrow
Mending Touch
Troll Unguent
Apply poison
Rez Signet
But since you don't got Nightfall, I'd go with Crippling Shot as best for PvP.
Longbows are fine in PvE, but I highly suggest you get a Recurve for PvP.
15^50 and Poisonous string for Bow Mods.
I suggest trying other builds other than Standard BA though if you want originality. However, this build is the best for most all occasion and its been proven a billion times.

1. Broad Head Arrow build ftw.
[skill]Broad Head Arrow[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Natural Stride[/skill][skill]Mending Touch[/skill][skill]Apply Poison[/skill][skill]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]
But since you only have Factions and Proph, switch Natural Stride and Mending Touch out for your choice of two of the following: Lightning Reflexes, Zojun's Haste, Throw Dirt, Mend Ailment, or Antidote Signet.
Excellent build against ele bosses and whatnot. *sniffs air* I love the smell of burnt Afflicted in the morning...
Spread your attribute points as you like, but have marksmanship at the highest (use minor runes btw. Maybe only one major rune if necessary). For this build, you'd want a Silencing bow string. Other mods are up to you.
2. ...i dunnno.
3. Cripshot build. Basically BHA build with different elites. Although cookie cutter....it is undoubtedly effective.
Have a Crippling mod for this build.
A stormbow is alright if you're using a Conjure spell, to which your elite will more than likely be.....Barrage. You'd need a Zealous or Vampiric string and a bow grip of enchanting for that.
Also...try to get different bows. Recurve for interrupts, Long or Flat for pulling, Short for dps, and an elemental bow for high armored foes. (which you already have :P)
well...that's all i got for now.

You really shouldn't run Barrage down in the UW. Not only will the effectiveness of Barrage greatly be reducde due to the number of small powerful mobs. But once your reach the smites Barrage will end up doing more damage to you than to them due to [skill=text]Shield of Judgment[/skill].

That would be the standard PvP build going around at the minute, however he doesnt have NF So I would suggest bringing [skill=text]Crippling Shot[/skill] instead of BA and another form of block skill in place of Natural Stride ^^

usually with a bow I run +5 energy as the dmg for a ranger dosn't come from the shot itself, but rather the interupts and degeneration.

14 Expertise is never useful, 13 is a breakpoint for 5E skills, 12 for 10E skills. One of those will do.

Yes, absolutly agreed. Especially with elites such as [skill=text]Broad Head Arrow[/skill] and [skill=text]Burning Arrow[/skill] it can really help to lighten the load energy wise

Sundering is a bad mod for a bow.

Duh, you're right - should never quick-post about stuff in tables when I am about to leave. Anyway, not sure I like that spread, considering that you'd bring burning arrow for damage, but it helps with spamming savage shot.

Consider restore life over rebirth especially since you'll probably be doing so in battle. For most characters, restore life will give you a bit more energy to go off of. Not so great on warriors though.

16 marks and 14 expertise is fine in pve, you're a Ranger mobs will never target you.
Rebirth sucks, never use it please. Just stick with [skill=text]Resurrection Signet[/skill] until you get Nightfall (if) in which case you can use [wiki]Sunspear Rebirth Signet[/wiki] instead in PvE.

just wondering..why do you need crip shot in pve?
mobs target the people with lowest life and armor so if your dropping your life that low through runes yes they will attack you.

I have 485 health with that setup, what's the point of having more when henchies only have 480?
And considering most PuG'ers run with ~450 health.... yea
